PG&E OFFERS ALLIANCE ON CLEAN ENERGY: MARIN IJ
PG&E ACTING TRUE TO FORM ON MARIN CLEAN ENERGY
Late Friday afternoon (November 14, 2008), PG&E met with the Independent Journal's Editorial Board, and slipped them a "preliminary" look at their Anti-CCA proposal, which is to be presented in full to the Marin County Board of Supervisors early Tuesday morning, November 18, 2008. We understand that the document was forwarded late Friday to county officials from the IJ, since PG&E apparently "overlooked" the county's address.
Today's IJ coverage of the coming PG&E presentation can be read in full by clicking here.
- Two Quotes From Today's Story:
PG&E OFFERS ALLIANCE ON CLEAN ENERGY
"Under the proposed partnership - which PG&E is pitching as an
alternative to the Marin Clean Energy plan - the utility would work
with the county of Marin and Marin cities to finance and construct
solar energy photovoltaic or other renewable energy facilities. PG&E
declined to say how much it would spend on the partnership, which
would have to be approved by the California Public Utilities
Commission.""Nation said Marin residents would actually be adding to greenhouse
emissions if they joined Marin Clean Energy. But Dawn Weisz, sustainability planner for the county of Marin, said
Nation's reasoning ignores one fact. If Marin customers buy their
energy elsewhere, PG&E would cut energy production, and the energy it
cuts is likely to be among its "dirtiest" sources - natural gas -
because it is the most expensive"
